Boarding starts at 3.30 pm at Fethiye marina. Dinner will be served on the yacht and we will overnight on board in Fethiye Marina close to the old town centre. An interesting bustling market town that serves the tourist areas of Olu Deniz and Hisaronu close by, Fethiye has a long history. In the hills above lie the haunting ruins of Kayakoy, abandoned in the Population Exchange of the 1920’s, recreated in an excellent book ‘Birds without Wings’.In ancient times Fethiye was known as Telmessos, a Lycian town close to the Caria kingdom border. Dating from those times are the cliff tombs above the town, the most famous being the tomb of King Amyntas. The town’s name changed over the centuries to Makri but the modern name is said to be from 1914 after the first Turkish AirForce Officer Fethi Bey who crashed his plane and died here .
While you are enjoying breakfast GuletBookers staff will start the day with our welcome and information about the cruise programme and safety procedures of the yacht. Once your captain has completed the port departure procedures you will start sailing towards Olu Deniz and lunch will be served when you moor at Soguksu (Cold Water ) Bay. Another swim is possible in sight of the beautiful Olu Deniz when we anchor for the night at Gemiler Adasi – Ships Island. An early evening walk over Ships Island and a visit to the Church of St Nicholas prepare your appetite for a magnificent dinner.
An early morning sail to pass around the spectacular and remote Seven Capes, then breakfast is served in YesilKoy bay. Afterward we sail past Kalkan to anchor on Kas harbour. Here you will have the chance to wander through exceptionally beautiful streets of the old town of Kas, where ancient tombs are a feature of the main street. As we overnight here, you will also have the chance to sample the Kas nightlife and enjoy this very popular and beautiful town, formerly a quaint fishing village. However Kas is also the site of Antiphellos one of ancient Lycia’s most important cities and many visitors enjoy exploring around the ruins.
After breakfast we will set sail for the remote rugged coastline and sunken city of Kekova Straits. Here you can see ruins in the water and on the island including the remnants of the Roman shipyard and old church arches from the Byzantine times. Lunch will be served at the old Roman shipyard. We then sail to the Ucagiz bay to anchor for the night at sea.
On the 5th day after breakfast, we sail along the beautiful coastline then stop at at Kale village, or ancient Simena, for you to visit the old fortress and wander down the steep paths of the village. Lunch will be served at Gokkaya where you will also have the chance to swim in beautiful waters. We will sail and anchor at another natural beauty spot at Ucagiz Bay.
After breakfast we will set sail to Bayindir enjoying a swim stop on the way. After lunch we will anchor at the tiny Kalkan Harbour where an optional tour can be taken to see the ancient cities of Lycia: Xanthos, Letoon, Tlos and Patara, and the spectacular Saklikent Canyon.
An early start to the day will enable us to sail to Camli Peninsula and lunch will be served at Batikkaya Bay.
